Thanks to this contest with Nick, I have reached a new milestone.  I have now lost over 140 lbs, or 10 stone (if you’re from the UK).

Next milestone in 2.6 lbs when I’ll have lost 100 lbs since joining SparkPeople on March 9.

The next milestone after that is very exciting, because it’ll be BMI < 30, which means I’ll be OVERWEIGHT, no longer obese!  That’s 3.2 lbs from now.

  1. Soon be there at this rate 🙂

Hope you enjoyed the UK, did you go to primark to stock up on clothes, you must really be going through them at some rate.

Read your cycling post, they have a spinning class at the gym that I go to in Chiang mai, but they are usually starting as I’m leaving, everyone in there looks super fit, so a good way of keeping fit. Now the question…………

Are you going to do the century ride around lake Cayuga?

    • I didn’t go to Primark, but I did get a nice GUL neoprene top for kayaking in cooler weather… 😀

Did stock up on a variety of large-sized Xmas puddings at Sainsbury’s (I like to bring them to the Thanksgiving, Xmas, and New Year’s dinners I go to.)

The UK was awesome. Despite your predictions of boring surroundings and dreary weather. LOL

Hadn’t thought about doing a century around Cayuga Lake (thanks for the tip – I didn’t even know there WAS one), but unless something untoward comes up I am planning to do the half-iron Aquabike portion of the Musselman Triathlon out of Geneva. (That’s 56 mi cycling and 1.2 mi swimming.) I’ll have to look around and see what centuries are held in the area. That would be a fun goal.

You sure you went to England 😉

Here’s a site for the ride around the lake, http://www.aidsrideforlife.org/?page=rider_info

It has quite a good rider manual that you can download.

I thought about doing it once, but pulled my back a bit going up one of the hills in the early stages of training (up to the 20 mile a day stage), so that was that.

    • Yep, I’m pretty sure I was in England. Cambridge, to be exact. ‘Cuz that’s where Lisa and Steve live. And for the record, it only rained once.

Thanks for the link. I didn’t manage to find it earlier.

Hey, that is a pretty good manual – I’m impressed that they include a training schedule. I would need to find a schedule that incorporates spinning. (Probably something like my regular 3x/week spinning plus 2 long outside rides per week – where the long rides grow increasingly longer.)

I’m impressed that the spinning has gotten me into such shape already that I can do 45-50 mile rides without even thinking about it. By next spring I should be even stronger. At that point it’ll just be a matter of building endurance for the 8-10 hours that a ride like that can take.

  3. triathlon, that’s a lot of swimming! (and a lot of biking too come to think of it).
I’m sure that with the attitude you have, that you’ll manage all of your goals 🙂

    • Well, it’s only a HALF iron, so it’s not like we’re talking about the full 2.4 mi swimming and 112 mi on bike…
